Got Time?

I never quite understood the concept of time as we know it today until I decided to change the way I look at the present time we live in. I remember my childhood when time really moved very slowly but with each passing year it seems to move rapidly. I realize that I can do something about the way I experience time. So this blog is an experiment in real time

I have lived on two continents and experienced life at its extremes. The simple truth is that people are the same irrespective of race, color or creed. Everyone wants to love and be loved by others.

What is then the purpose of time?

Does one know when he/she is born? Does one know when he/she is dead? Don't we need somebody to tell us if the baby in the womb is alive or dead? or if someone who has been born is dead? How much can life support systems do to help someone continue with the process of living?

Why is everyone so fearful of death? Ever experienced a person who is dying? What is it like? Is there an urgency to matters especially when someone is told they have 3 more months to live? How often do we keep track of time then? Do we count the years, months, days, seconds of every waking moment typically? Why then does time matter when we someone tells us we are so close to dying? Is this fear of losing track of time so dreadful that we have to keep track of it?

On somedays we feel like time is moving very slow on other days it seems to fly. What if at the end of one's earthly life, there is no more time left. Just like a clock running down, human concept of time has run down and it is a spiritual life.

Humans are the only ones spending so much time worrying about the soul and spiritual matters. What if there is a concept of time, like eternity, where there is no beginning and no end. What if, we did not pay heed to that concept of spiritual reality all of our earthly life? What if the price for not heeding that call is too costly? Is there a way out? Humans spend a lot of time, money and energy trying to prolong life. When are we gonna realize that everyone dies ultimately. Every human being born has to die someday. What happens after that is the question that has plagued our understanding of what really time is. Today is all we got, Now is what we have. Seize the moment, make a change within yourself and there is only one way about it. It is better to be good than to be evil. It is better to love than to hate. It is better to prevent than finding a cure. It is better to forgive than to exact revenge. It is better that someone paid the price than none at all.

Has time stood still?

So I decided to find out if time has stood still? Don't they say, History repeats itself?..Well, I know it repeats itself in families. I have seen and experienced it in my line of work. But can it be true that time has stood still and when was it? Here is what I found..

So what if Time stood still?

If the earth stopped its rotation on its axis and just stopped dead in its orbit around the sun, would time stand still? We have calculated time based on the lunar and solar cycles. We have named seasons depending on where we are in the rotation. Isn't there a saying, What goes around comes around? What if, Time stood still and there is nothing going round and round.

With each major natural catastrophe, we hear scientists say that the axis of the Earth is tilting. So did the earth once upon a time spin perfectly well on its axis? I can imagine earth like a top, spinning perfectly well. It would seem like it would never stop its rotation. But as we all have experienced, the top doesn't go on and on, it falls down on its side after some time. Is Earth similar to the spinning of a top except that it is spinning both on its axis and it is spinning around the Sun. If what scientists say is true about the Sun, i.e., that is a star and as all stars have a fall out sooner or later, would earth also stop its rotation and stop dead in its tracks.

Is that the reason why Man is so adamant about finding a way out of this natural catastrophe. We spend billions of dollars trying to figure out a solution to man made problems. Every generation is trying to outlive the past generation one way or the other. Each year we are exploring both the depths of the ocean and the heights of "heaven" to find a place where we can survive if Earth suffers from a natural catastrophe. We have come up with ingenous ways on how to thwart an asteroid attack. We have never tried it before, but theoretically it is possible. We have seen how people in the East, who outlived the atomic bomb, suffered and still survived a scientific experiment in real time.

Do we believe that we can do the same by either exploring the space above and finding another planet such as Earth to continue the human race. Isn't that what Star Trek expeditions are all about? Flights of human imagination!!!..

Scientists must be able to help us. They have been able to help us with a lot of their discoveries and inventions, haven't they? I would like for them to tell me how many years more do we have before the next major earthquake, the next tsunami, the next hurricane and tornado hits my city. The warnings they give me is not sufficient. But then, I could get killed walking down the sidewalk because somebody did not have the common sense to not get behind the wheel when they are not in a stable state of mind to just concentrate on driving.

So when does time stand still? I haven't talked to a dead person to find out if he/she has any concept of time as we who are still alive know it. Could it be when keeping track of time doesn't really matter anymore? Could it be a time when we don't have to worry about hunger and thirst? Could it be a time when it doesn't matter whether you are in pain or in joy? Because that's what you will experience when time stands still. What if we could imagine what it would look like if time stood still?

So what is time?

So now that I understood the origin or the history of time, I asked myself so What is time? We are so preoccupied by it that we wake up and go to bed based on this concept. So I wanted to read more about it..there is no point reinventing the wheel..Let me see what else has been written about this.

I am positive that others before me must have had thought this question for themselves. Every thing we see today seems like it was already there before. At least if you have imagined it in your minds, it must be possible to see it for yourself..Isn't that what they say..If you can dream it, you can see it happen in reality..Didn't people of olden days dream things about the future..I guess they did..So I thought more and came across this link in my search for the answer to "So what is Time?

History of Time

I thought it would be a good idea to give myself a reading on the history of time itself...here is what I found at http://webexhibits.org/calendars/year.html
